People frequently ask me how to get started in comedy. Simply work up a routine, go to an open mic and perform it. Most open mics are 5 minutes of stage time, but times can vary anywhere between 3-10 minutes. Don't feel obligated to use all your time. If you only have 3 minutes, do 3 minutes. Then keep hitting the stages and working on your material.
